CODE Applauds Introduction of Fairness in Liver Allocation Act

CODE applauds Congressmen Eliot Engel (NY) and David Valadao (CA) for introducing the Fairness in Liver Allocation Act, which would ensure that patients across the country receive livers for transplant based on their medical need, not arbitrary geographic boundaries. Unfortunately, despite CODE's commitment to an independent process, the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network failed to deliver meaningful reforms to our liver allocation system, warranting this legislation as well as a lawsuit from patients currently on the waiting list.
